I moved to the United States in 1967 and learned English in kindergarten (with the help of Sesame Street). There was no ESOL back then, but I had some fabulous teachers who helped me learn and love to read. I see myself reflected in many of the newcomers (either in school or as adults). That desire to learn something new that helps them grow. I love being a part of that.
